ECF data as of 2026-07-01
18 clubs meet across the district, from Yate & Sodbury and Thornbury down to Bath, and out to Portishead and Clevedon on the coast. Most run a club night anyone can walk into. You do not need a rating to start, and you do not need to join a team to be welcome.
273 of the 994 rated players here are juniors. They play in school clubs, in junior sections, and many of them in adult league teams alongside players three times their age.
The league is where much of it is counted. 408 players sat down across 418 matches last season and played 2,111 games between them, for 60 teams in 7 divisions. The rest — the games worth replaying, the photographs, the evenings that were not league fixtures — comes from the people who were there.
